A lightweight template to capture wins in real-time. Spend 2 minutes a day, never scramble for achievements again.
The Problem with Annual Tracking
You sit down for your performance review. Your manager asks: "What have you accomplished this year?"
Your mind goes blank.
You vaguely remember big projects, but the details are fuzzy. The small wins? Gone. The impact? Can't recall the numbers.
This happens because you're trying to remember 12 months of work in one sitting.
The solution isn't a better memory. It's a better system.
Why Weekly Tracking Works
| Annual Tracking | Weekly Tracking |
|---|---|
| Remember 2-3 big projects | Capture 50-100+ wins |
| Vague on details | Specific metrics fresh |
| Stressful at review time | Review is just export |
| Miss small wins | Small wins compound |
| "What did I even do?" | Clear picture of value |
The math is simple:
- 2 wins per week Γ 50 weeks = 100 wins per year
- 100 wins > the 5 you'll remember at review time

How to Use This Template
Option 1: Daily Micro-Logging (Best)
Time: 30 seconds per entry
At the end of each day, add 1-2 bullet points for what you accomplished. Don't overthink itβcapture the raw fact.
Example daily entry:
Pushed fix for login timeout issueGot approval on the Q2 roadmapHelped Sarah debug her API integration
Option 2: Friday Review (Good)
Time: 5 minutes per week
Set a recurring calendar event for Friday at 4:30 PM. Review your week and capture the highlights.
Friday prompts:
- What did I ship or complete?
- What problems did I solve?
- Who did I help?
- What did I learn?
- What feedback did I receive?
Option 3: Sunday Reset (Acceptable)
Time: 10 minutes per week
Use the weekend to reflect on the past week before it fades from memory.
Warning: Details start to fade after 48 hours. The sooner you capture, the richer the entry.

What Counts as a Win?
Yes, log these:
β Shipped a feature or completed a project β Fixed a bug or resolved an issue β Received positive feedback from anyone β Helped a colleague solve a problem β Learned something new (skill, insight, tool) β Led a meeting or presentation β Improved a process, even slightly β Made a decision that moved things forward β Prevented a problem from happening β Automated or streamlined something β Built a relationship with a stakeholder β Hit a milestone on a long project β Got something approved β Completed training or certification β Said no to something to protect priorities
Don't dismiss these as "too small":
- "That's just my job" β Log it anyway. Doing your job well IS an accomplishment.
- "It wasn't that hard" β Log it. Easy for you might be hard for others.
- "I was just helping out" β Log it. Collaboration is valuable.
- "It's not finished yet" β Log the milestone. Progress matters.

FAQ
Q: This seems like a lot of work. Is it worth it?
It's 2-5 minutes per week. At review time, it saves you hours of stressful reconstruction. The ROI is massive.
Q: What if I miss a week?
Don't try to backfill perfectly. Just note "missed logging" and start fresh. Consistency beats perfection.
Q: How is this different from a to-do list?
A to-do list is what you plan to do. This is what you actually accomplished. Different purposes.
Q: Should I share this with my manager?
You can share highlights in your 1:1s. The full log is for youβshare summaries and selections.
Q: What if my wins seem small?
Log them anyway. Small wins compound. "Fixed 47 bugs this quarter" is impressive even if each bug was small.
